The definition of “glamorous” is “dressed or made up to be good-looking, especially in a high-fashion manner,” and the clothes in Jason Matlo’s “Glamazon” themed spring show would make anyone look fierce.

With a decidedly retro vibe reminiscent of Studio 54, models rocked the runway in three separate scenes. First out was the “Jet Set Barbie” look with an Asian flair and beautiful tailoring. A silky, printed dress with a nearly dangerous front slit and white obi-esque belt as well as a pretty pink frock with a flirty vertical ruffle, set the bar high. But nothing could have prepared us for the following treat: a dancing drag queen that performed Madonna better than she does (for the last decade anyway).

With the crowd amped, the next scene opened with another remarkable number. This segment, entitled “Metals,” was littered with gold lame and layered ruffles. One of the most impressive pieces was a skirt suit with a ruffled peplum, shown in both gold and silver.

Again between scenes the talented performer gave the audience a taste of her moves, wearing another stunning dress that would have most women swearing off carbs and cursing their thighs. What the final scene lacked in colour it made up for in gorgeous silhouettes. The “Black is Basic” portion of the show offered masterful harem pants and simple jersey dresses. A long evening gown with a low back and floor-length necklace left viewers awestruck. The show closed with another dance and a third wig, as well as a modest bow from Matlo. With a supporting character capable of stealing the show, it was fortunate that Matlo delivered a collection strong enough to carry the lead!
