PLUM PICKINGS
Jenny Garvey
Growing up in Calgary and becoming a fashion designer may have seemed like a big stretch for former cowgirl Claudia Agusti, but as the head designer of Plum Clothing in Alberta’s booming economy, she’s proved that nothing is out of reach. Plum has recently expanded to over 4,000 sq. ft in Calgary’s Westhills Towne Centre. The boutique is a West Coast original with a 25-year reputation for quality women’s fashion which recently expanded to Alberta in the fall of 2006 and brought Claudia Agusti back to her old stomping grounds. Plum embraces a chic and contemporary atmosphere for women who love fashion and appreciate style, but don’t need to spend their entire month’s rent on a single pair of jeans. Knit tops, textured fabrics, bold colors, and plaid jumpers are among the many runway-inspired trends turning heads inside Plum’s doors. Agusti’s fall collection includes stunning suiting pieces, flirty dresses, and the latest accessories, but still offers many casual pieces. Most importantly, these styles are practical, wearable and can be worn in the office or to Saturday afternoon lunch with friends. Ranging from $25-$150, these prices have this cowgirl’s landlord on cloud nine.
