Unity II

Never mind that Unity II, located in the heart of the rainbow district on Ste-Catherine Street, has been burned down not once, but twice; the club holds true to its name in keeping it together.

Split into two levels and a roof terrasse, the club has a room on the second floor that plays the most recent dance-pop hits. Yes, the men are hot and totally gay, and more often than not, totally shirtless. Here, Madonna is queen. Poles and speakers are bound with dancers while strobe lights pulsate to the Material Girl’s “Jump.”

Never has a woman felt so safe being surrounded by so many men, but it’s rare to find this kind of fiery energy in most Montreal clubs. True to their stereotypes, Unity’s gorgeous, gay male patrons are gentlemen and will dance with just about anybody — they’ll even defend a hapless, heckled straight female!

This is truly a club where both sexes can ogle the well-toned barmen and not feel embarrassed about having his or her hormones fly around uninhibited. It’s Sin City within Unity’s walls, and you’ll be happy to stay there forever.
