Gogo Lounge on St-Laurent Boulevard doesn’t look like much on the outside, with its psychedelic red, white, blue, and yellow logo painted on its walls. But weekend after weekend, this place packs it in like it was the last bomb shelter on Earth. Lineups start as early as 9 p.m., and quickly queue up to at least an hour-long wait after 11 p.m.

Once inside, the kitschy décor of giant plastic hands that snuggly fit your bottom and the sounds of friendly laughter immediately dissipate any previous frustration. Thrown back in time with a ’70s or ’80s soundtrack, the quirky setting of a horoscope themed table and vinyl record drink menus makes Gogo Lounge a unique experience. A quick look at the drink names — Kryptonite, Pussycat, and LSD — will have you wondering what the owners were smoking when they created this place. But it’s groovy, baby … especially at $7 a drink, there no room for complaints.
