Bustle Spring 2008 Collection

To say that the Spring ‘08 collection of Bustle was influenced by the Kentucky Derby is an understatement. Playing with the theme of horse racing this season, design duo Shawn Hewston and Ruth Promislow showcased a Spring collection that came alive with horse motifs on shirts, shoes, pants, vests, and jackets.  The plethora of double breasted jackets, pea coats, vests, and suits on the Bustle runway worked well for the most part when they were paired with snug printed shirts. The highlight of the collection was the detailing and tailoring of pants, shirts, and jackets.

After the show, Shawn Hewston revealed the key influences for the collection: “Every season, we always take a theme that is related to  sport or leisure activity, and this season it was thoroughbred racing. We were inspired by racing competitions like the Kentucky Derby and Ascot Cup.” The key to success for Shawn, it seems, was taking an otherwise traditional activity and making it cool.
