White Label’s Entrance

“That one I did off the top of my head,” Evelyne Dupuis said of her risqué one piece, black sheer lingerie after the Ascension 2007 show. Leaving little to the imagination took little imagination it seemed. However, Dupuis’ White Label brand is anything but a simple stroke of creativity.
Having previously worked for four years in the fashion industry, this has been her break out year, and
GLOSS
was able to chat with her for a bit in what inspired her to do this season’s sexy, black ensembles.
“I’ve been a dancer for many years, so I’ve been inspired by tango for this collection,” she recalls. Except, it wasn’t quite tango-inspired, “it was more in the lines of making reference
to
tango for inspiration: the feminine curves, the gloves, and the accessories.” Hence the series of svelte, body-hugging cocktail dresses or the pocket gray pencil skirt showing off those womanly curves.
White Label also included tight and shiny arm warmers, striped knee-high stockings and a knotted bag, among the many accessories created. Dupuis noted that she used several types of spandex including jersey and viscose. One was called “wet look” because it gave off a shine similar to leather, found in her striped stockings.
Though black seemed to dominate most of the fashion scene for Montreal next spring, Evelyne reassured us that it won’t always be monochromatic. “I’ve been having some thoughts on using a Native American theme next season, so it will be completely different.” Feathery head dresses perhaps? We shall see.
