A certain Je Ne Sais Quoi

Given that Dace Moore grew up hating her name it has definitely brought good karma to her self-titled design label, dace, whose pieces have been seen on stars such as Lindsay Lohan.

Dace Moore’s path to fashion design is as unique as her name. The story of a young single mother learning to sew her own clothes and then turning this money saving trick into a successful business sounds much more like a movie than real life. But for Dace Moore this is reality. “She started constructing garments from vintage patterns that she collected from thrift stores. She took the blocks from these patterns, manipulated them and created her own designs, which she was soon selling to local consignment stores” In spring 2002, Dace Moore launched dace.

Clothing by dace merges the sharp lines of modern art with the classic femininity of women’s clothing. The spring 2008 collection is filled with “high-waisted shorts, knee-skimming hemlines and voluminous tunics”. The color palette is predominantly light and neutral giving the collection a wonderfully serene aura. The new spring line is described by Dace as having “a new and youthful elegance. A certain “je ne sais quoi” from somewhere warm, distant and memorable.” It will be available in stores across Canada and the United States in February 2008.
