The New Kid on the Block
Sarah Cole-Burnett
If you're looking for shabby-chic dining with great tunes and rockin' seafood in Montreal, then Garde-Manger is the only way to go. Located in the uber-trendy old port, Garde-Manger has infused the often pretentious district with casual class and youthful oomph. The cozy vintage decor, "we play what we love" music, and hearty, yet high-end menu, makes dining in this new joint a Montreal must. The crab shack-style seafood platter, overflowing with shrimp, clams, and crab legs, is perfect after a long day at the office. If seafood isn't your thing, and you're not counting the calories, then Garde-Manger's infamous steak frites is another personal favourite. For first timers and cocktail lovers, the one of a kind, shrimp-laden Bloody Caesar is definitely worth the fifteen bucks. Although limited seating makes for long line-ups at the door, grab a drink, request a song, and sit back and enjoy this fresh addition to Montreal's finest.
