Blogs, blogs, blogs!

Nicole Sgarbossa

Over the last few years, blogs have risen from obscurity to become an Internet phenomenon that has been attracting everyone and their mother (literally!) to them.  So with millions and millions of blogs out there, it’s hard to know which ones are worthy of your time and effort. No one wants to read the angst filled ramblings of some random 14 year old; they want interesting, funny, worthwhile posts to read. So here, for your net entertainment (and to pass the time at work), are some of the best blogs on the web!

d-listed

Dlisted

There are tons of celebrity gossip blogs out there, but dlisted is the mother of them all! Perez might be the most famous, but Michael K from Dlisted is definitely funnier, meaner, and swears a heck of a lot more frequently. If you can’t get enough of those celebrities and their crazy antics, check it out.

Stuff White People Like

Of course I had to start out with this blog. It’s one of the better-known blogs out there, and definitely one of the funniest. What started out as the quirky brainchild of two grad students turned into a cultural phenomenon for the exact demographic being mocked. They’ve even recently come out with a book by the same name.

If you’ve never heard of it before, don’t jump to the “it’s racist!” conclusion because it’s far from that. It’s basically satirizing all the things that white, progressive, middle class, left wing yuppies love, like pea coats, dinner parties, and liberal arts degrees. In all likelihood you’ll probably end up fitting into this exact demographic and will find yourself snickering at just how true it all is.

Jezebel

Jezebel is a blog affiliated with Gawker, the illustrious Manhattan based news blog. Jezebel, however, is written by women and is mostly for women. And it’s not the same crap you find yourself reading weekly in Cosmo. It’s stories for real women, and of course, there’s a nice amount of celebrity gossip thrown in there. Their motto basically explains it all, “Celebrity, Sex, Fashion for Women. Without Airbrushing.”

Redacted

The amusing personal anecdotes in this blog are endless, and I consistently find myself literally ‘loling’ at the witty repartee. If you start from the beginning it’s sure to make more sense.

The Satorialist

The ever-famous fashion blog. Not much to say here, but if you love style and the like, you can’t miss this one.

We heart it

A photoblog featuring pages and pages of beautiful and random pictures from various destinations on the Internet; it’s sure to brighten your day. Also, they’re a perfect way to spice up your desktop wallpaper.

If none of these satisfy your fancy, then maybe consider writing your own blog! It’s simple and easy, and that way you can share your own humorous tales with the world!

Happy Reading!
