Not-So-Model Behaviour

British model Jodie Kidd was recently dropped from Marks & Spencer’s advertising campaign after reports leaked that she had sold drugs to undercover journalists. According to FashionWatch.com, her contract, which was worth an estimated $500,000, will not been renewed. No matter — the campaign also features fellow models Myleene Klass, Twiggy, Erin O’Connor, and Lizzie Jagger.

The Cake Lady’s Pearls

Fashion Week Daily announced recently that pearls belonging to Marie Antoinette — the last queen of France, that is, not the Kirsten Dunst version — will be auctioned off at Christie’s in London on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. The jewels date from circa 1780, and are symbolic of the queen’s extravagance in both her political choices and her lifestyle. The pearls were transformed into a necklace in 1849, which features 21 natural grey pearls suspended from a diamond collar, and a diamond ribbon woven around a ruby collar. Bidding for the magnificent piece is expected to reach between $700,000 and $800,000.
