Fashion Mourns

At the end of September, the fashion world mourned the death of Jacques Helleu, Chanel’s artistic director for more than four decades. Women’s Wear Daily reported that the 69 year old passed away after a long illness, but his legacy as the “driving force behind the image of the Chanel beauty business” will be remembered. Helleu’s work includes cinematic and fantasy-themed advertising for the legendary Chanel No. 5 perfume, starring such screen sirens as Catherine Deneuve, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, and most recently, as GLOSS reported last month, Kiera Knightley.
