A Lesson for Stylish Travellers

Checking baggage may be common practice for many travellers, but Condé Nast Traveler’s style director Mark Connolly will likely be carrying his items on from now on. According to WWD.com, the editor recently lost five trunks carrying approximately $50,000 (USD) worth of couture. The suitcases were misplaced during a stopover at London’s Heathrow Airport while on his way to Singapore for a shoot for the magazine’s October issue. Among the items that went missing were a $13,000 (USD) Dolce & Gabbana dress and a $23,000 (USD) Versace dress. The website reported that about half the clothing was replaced by the third day of Connolly’s shoot, while the rest was replaced by designers’ publicists and repurchasing items locally.

Behind—or Under—the Scenes

Better known for sexy stilettos and revealing dresses, Dolce & Gabbana recently offered monogrammed black silk bathrobes to models lounging backstage at Milan Fashion Week, reported Fashionista.com. In addition to the knee-length robes, the fashion house also provided matching flat slippers. How thoughtful.

Not Only Are They Ugly …

The Associated Press released several news reports recently on the public health risk posed by Crocs, the popular gummy gardening shoe. According to the reports, the shoes’ two selling features — their flexibility and grip — can cause the shoes to get caught in the “teeth” of escalators or in the crack between the steps and the sides of escalators. Serious injuries have been reported across the United States and as far away as Singapore and Japan, and most have involved young children. Interestingly, the company introduced the shoes in its smallest size, 4/5, in Spring 2007.
