A Case of Wintour vs. Zoe
Rachel Zoe, stylist to the stars, might as well have cast a stone at Anna Wintour when she made a comment to
New York Times Magazine
in 2007 touting herself as more influential than American Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour.
As a result, Rachel’s longtime agency, Magnet, dropped her. But the drama didn’t end there! During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, held in New York City from February 1-8, Rachel was denied access to the Marc Jacobs show after showing up late. In case you were wondering, Anna Wintour was sitting in the front row.
At the end of the Marc Jacobs show, celebrities were conveniently shuffled over to 24 Fifth Avenue for the after-party. Victoria Beckham, Lil’ Kim, Padma Lakshmi, and yes, even Rachel Zoe were there.
In other New York Fashion Week news, there was no shortage of feathers, fringes, layering and volume at Bryant Park. Notable collections included Jeremy Laing’s simple chic looks and retro-inspired pop art, Proenza Schouler’s canary yellow and royal purple silk dresses and origami paneling, Anna Sui ’s funky fringed frocks, and Koi Suwannagate’s colour-blocked dresses.
